Kennier Josué López Acosta
Mrs. Maria Lorena Arias Acosta and Mr. Roger Antonio Lopez are the parents of Kennier Josué López Acosta. Kennie was born on June 16, 1999, in Santiago de Jinotepe, Nicaragua. He was born with blindness in both eyes. At that time, he was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy.Cerebral palsy (CP) is a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement, and motor skills (the ability to move in a coordinated and purposeful way). Cerebral palsy can also lead to other health issues, including vision, hearing, and speech problems, and learning disabilities.
CP is usually caused by brain damage that occurs before or during a child's birth, or during the first 3 to 5 years of a child's life. There is no cure for CP, but treatment, therapy, special equipment, and, in some cases, surgery can help a child who is living with the condition.
Through our organization, Kennier was evaluated by a general physician, on August 12th, 2011. Dr Parrales, sent Kennie for more tests with a pediatrician and a neurologist in Managua (capital of Nicaragua).
On February 8th, 2012, Dr. Orlando Sevilla, (neurologist) evaluated kennier. Kennier needed treatment immediately to avoid further damage to his muscles , joints and more.( Therapeutic exercise program)
He needs a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a speech-language pathologist; all will work with the child to help him improve posture and movement. Also, he suffers from a severe epilepsy. More information on Kennie's evaluation will be sent soon but by now, we need your support in the form of a donation.-
WE Need Your HELP!
La Boquita local school is : Centro Escolar de Nazareth is in dire need of repairs and maintenance. Please visit Global Giving at www.globalgiving.org and help us raise funds for this incredible project or just donate here, right now in our Web site. Help us create a safe and suitable learning environment for the impoverished children of La Boquita
The Preschooler have a small building on a separate area with no security at all. We need to build a building inside the school compound for Preschooler and First Grade.
There are no bathrooms; they only have a latrine, which is extremely unsanitary for the children.
In the playground they only have a broken swing set and slide. We have donated few games for the children to play but they certainly need much more safe games to play during recess time.
We built a temporary place where the kids can buy snacks. We need to build them a small place where they can sit, eat under some shade and rest.
We need to build a small library for these kids.
The school Trash Cans that were donated last year were stolen. We need help to have better security at the school.
We need to restore the inside of the classrooms with new chairs, new boards, computers and a library.
Please help us provide these children a safe and fun place to learn!!!
